The economic process of the country do not solely depend on the natural resources, technology, and capital but principally on the number and quality of manpower.

By quality of the workforce, we have a tendency to talk about the potency and productivity of the labour force.

The potency of the manpower is dependent on several necessary factors, such as, health and nutrition, education and coaching, housing facilities, safe drinkable water, and sanitation.

These factors are known as vital determinants of quality of life. Sufficient investment in these areas can increase the productivity and the potency of the workforce. Economists are calling it ‘human capital formation’. What this means is that we mean to say “the body of knowledge attained by the population and capacity of the population to use the knowledge effectively.”

Education is the vital and necessary part out of the assorted parts of social infrastructure. The well-educated and properly trained personnel will increase the speed of economic development.

Problems of Education:

Even though we try our best, the educational development of our country still remains at a low level. Given below are some main issues face in the progress and development of education:

  • Lack of Funds
  • The lack of decent funds is the main downside within the development of education. Outlay for education in the Five Year Plans has been on a low, as this is due to short funds. Because of this, most educational institutions lack the infrastructure, science equipment, and libraries, etc. Hence, the desired results cannot be achieved.
  • Expensive Higher Education
  • University, skilled and technical education has become pricey in India. The fee structure of these technical and skilled institutes like IIM’s, is pretty high. IIM’s charge Rs. 2 lakh per semester for their MBA classes. It is on the far side from the reach of the common people. Privatization of upper education has directed to the expansion of profit hungry entrepreneurs. In the current situations, higher education is a way pricey affair than usual.
  • Neglect of Indian Languages
  • The medium used in teaching, notably in Science Subjects, is English. Therefore, rural students who do not know the language are unable to learn the subject. They suffer a lot; Indian languages are still immature. Normal publications are not offered in the Indian language, which is Hindi.
  • Problem of Brain Drain
  • When intelligent, proficient and worthy candidates do not get appropriate jobs within the nation, they usually decide to leave the country and migrate to other countries in search of jobs. Hence, our country is empty of the gifted and smart talent. This spectacle is termed as ‘Brain Drain.’
  • Mass Illiteracy
  • In spite of constitutional directives and economic forecasting, we are not able to accomplish cent percent literacy. Currently, 35% of the citizens stay illiterate. The quantity of illiterates is about one-third of the full illiterates from one place to another in the world. Advanced countries are 100% literate; the situation of the nation is quite depressing.
  • Wastage of Resources
  • The education system of our country relies on the General Education. The rate of dropouts is incredibly high in primary and secondary levels. Most of the children in the age gap of 6-14 leave the institutions before they even graduate and finish their education. It ends up in the depletion of financial and human resources.
  • General Education Oriented
  • India’s education system is grounded on the principle of General Education. The progress of technical and professional education is fruitless. Therefore, the diversity of educated unemployed people are increasing with each coming day. This has become a huge alarm for the Government.
  • Problems of Primary Education
  • Our primary education is ridden with a lot of problems. A huge sizable amount of primary schools have no buildings and no basic facilities such as drinking water, urinals, electricity, educational furniture like tables, chairs, boards, etc., and study materials. A huge number of primary schools are basically single teacher institutions, and most schools around the country are having no teachers also. Hence, the drop rate is incredibly high and is a huge cause of concern. In conclusion, the quantitative expansion of the education in our nation for our younger generation is having a presence, but the qualitative development of the same is way behind.

Although our nation is profited with a decent proportion of English language speaking people, there is still a high level of illiteracy amongst the lots. The worst case scenario is in the poor, undeveloped, rural areas and amongst the women population.

India-bashing or criticizing everything Indian is a national pastime of our own compatriots, who we call or identify as the citizens of this country. Each and everything related to India is compared over other things outside of the country, which is ultimately wicked. Particularly since these people that disapprove the country have never left the country and gone to the abroad nations to actually involve in the happenings in these foreign countries.

The education system of the Indian nation is a scorching subject among these India bashers, because we being Indians, are a hypercritical lot, who are more persuaded to appreciating and liking anything and everything ‘phoren’, while at the same time, is able to belittle something which is local.

Along with the above factors, there are some more cons of the education system. One, the system kills students since a dreadful 12 percent of children in the age gap of 4-12 years suffer from some sort of psychiatric illness. Additionally, another 20 percent of students display strong signs of psychological sickness, of which about 2 to 5% suffer from severe circumstances, such as bipolar disorder, behavioural disability, learning disabilities, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder(ADHD).

Secondly, the system does not allow the techniques to value and notice the innate skills of the students. The education system does not only lack a deficiency in the agenda or procedures to imply and notice the innate skills in a child, but it is also well geared up to obscure and destroy these talents.
